Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, undertook an official visit to the People’s Republic of China, reinforcing the long-standing and multifaceted strategic partnership between the two nations. The high-level engagements held in Beijing marked a significant advancement in politico-military cooperation between Pakistan and China.
During his visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir met with key Chinese political leaders including His Excellency Han Zheng, Vice President of China, and His Excellency Wang Yi, Foreign Minister. Discussions centered around regional and global developments, mutual interests in maintaining peace and stability, and the deepening of connectivity through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Both sides reaffirmed their shared vision for regional integration, multilateral cooperation, and sovereign equality. The Chinese leadership praised Pakistan’s Armed Forces as a critical pillar of stability and resilience in South Asia, commending their commitment to regional peace and their role in counterterrorism and strategic deterrence.

On the military front, the COAS held meetings with senior Chinese military leadership, including General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), General Chen Hui, Political Commissar of the PLA Army, and Lieutenant General Cai Zhai Jun, Chief of Staff of the PLA Army. Upon arrival at the PLA Army Headquarters, Field Marshal Munir was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour—symbolic of the deep-rooted camaraderie between the two armed forces.

These high-level military engagements entailed comprehensive dialogues on defence cooperation, focusing on joint counterterrorism efforts, enhanced training exchanges, military modernization, and institutional collaboration. Both sides emphasized improving strategic coordination and operational interoperability to effectively counter emerging hybrid and transnational threats.
The Chinese military leadership reiterated full confidence in the enduring strength of the bilateral defence partnership and acknowledged Pakistan’s pivotal role in maintaining peace and stability in the region. In response, Field Marshal Munir conveyed Pakistan’s deep appreciation for China’s unwavering support and reaffirmed the country’s resolve to expand military-to-military cooperation across all domains.
The visit serves as a testament to the growing depth and maturity of Pakistan-China ties, reflecting both countries’ shared commitment to peace, development, and strategic collaboration through sustained dialogue and mutual respect.
